Registration for the Rotarians’ Herring Rowing Event Is Open!
Now is the time to gather your teams and grab the oars! The traditional charity event, the Herring Rowing and Herring Hike event, will take place on Sunday, 4 October 2026. Join us to do good and enjoy a wonderful atmosphere in the beautiful maritime scenery of Helsinki.
The Rotarians’ Herring Rowing and Herring Hike event invites companies, organizations, city residents, and Rotary clubs to take part in this recreational event held on the opening day of the Helsinki Herring Market. Registration is now open! We welcome both experienced veteran rowers and enthusiastic new teams. No previous rowing experience is required! The Herring Hike offers enjoyment for those who prefer to stay on dry land as well as for families with children.
Concrete Help for the Baltic Sea
The Herring Rowing event combines exercise with a major volunteer effort. Since 2013, the event has raised nearly €100,000 for work benefiting the Baltic Sea. This year’s theme is wetlands, which play a critical role in combating eutrophication in the Baltic Sea.
The Excitement of Rowing and Relaxed Hiking
The event offers a suitable way for everyone to participate:
Rowing: Experience the team spirit of church boat rowing from Kaisaniemi Bay to Katajanokka.
Hiking: Enjoy beautiful waterfront routes on foot while following the rowing course.
Sponsorship: Companies and organizations can also support Baltic Sea conservation by sponsoring the event.
The day culminates in a shared herring lunch and an engaging Baltic Sea seminar, where experts will deepen our understanding of wetlands and their importance.
